Past, Future, Present

In order for us to foresee the future we must first look into how things were in the past.

Sure you might already know that computers advance very quickly and there is actually even a formula that is so accurate that it predicted that personal computer specifications will advance as they did.

Although computer power was significantly less then than it is now, there were some pretty interesting applications available in multimedia. Mankind has always been captivated with this domain. However the concept of multimedia was born as we know it today only after more than a decade from the computer's birth. In the past you needed to write code pages long just to be able to draw an ellipsoid. Now you can do one at a click of a button (you don't even need to know the mathematical formula).

The big question: How will things look for multimedia into the future?

A thing is for sure. We can see the multimedia trend. Virtual reality is more than a vision: many games are small or bigger VRs. Advance foto, audio, video editing tools take advantage of all the computing power they have.

Games in general is where most of the world feels the effect of multimedia. How sound joins with what you see makes you love computers. How couldn't you? How couldn't anyone love the computer? (Multimedia in games is widely seen worldwide)

So, back to the main subject, as I see multimedia will even further develop to a point that it can no longer be implemented because of hardware limitations. Could this be possible? If multimedia has a growth rate bigger then computing power has than this will be the future. I guess that time will tell.
